From its establishment, the MTR Corporation's mission is to construct and operate an urban metro system to help meet Hong Kong's public transport requirements now and into the future. Since the company was listed as a commercial enterprise in 2000, we are also required to achieve long-term financial success for investors. We take both responsibilities very seriously.

The most vital Corporate Responsibility of the MTR is to provide and maintain a world-class, sustainable railway for the people of Hong Kong. Therefore, it is of vital importance that, while building new rail lines to optimise travel convenience, we continue to invest in the existing railway infrastructure to maintain it in top operational condition.

On its part, the MTR Corporation is committed to help nurture vibrant communities, assisting to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
